Trauma Focused Therapy

A specific form of therapy that is used for patients struggling with a traumatic experience. It focuses on how a traumatic experience can affect a person’s thoughts, emotions and behaviors. It teaches individuals ways to understand, cope and eventually move forward from traumas.

Grief and Loss Therapy

Coping with grief and loss is a common focus in psychotherapy. Our Specialized therapists offer support to individuals navigating the emotional complexities of bereavement, helping them process their emotions, adjust to life changes, and find meaning in their experiences.

Art Therapy

A therapy that utilizes different forms of art techniques and integrates them into healing. It’s used for multiple disorders including anxiety, psychological symptoms due to medical conditions, PTSD, emotional difficulties, and depression. There are multiple types of art therapy that focus on self-expression to gain personal insight and develop coping techniques, self-awareness, and boosting self-esteem.

Family & Couples therapy

We offer family and marital therapy led by qualified licensed therapists. We use specific therapy modalities for Family and couples therapy. This includes the Gottman method which is a research based approach that is used specifically in couples’ therapy. It assesses the couples’ relationship, and allows them to also have individual sessions with the therapist. It teaches couples how to handle conflict better and create a more accepting meaningful life with each other.

Group Therapy

We offer group therapy at al-Amal hall led by a therapist. Group therapy assists individuals in coping with their mental illness, as well treating it in a group setting alongside others. All group therapies require strict confidentiality.

Group Therapy

Eating disorder therapy helps individuals develop healthier attitudes towards food, promote a positive body image, and address underlying psychological issues contributing to the eating disorder that an individual may have.

Support Groups

We offer support groups at Al-Amal hall including depression support group, anxiety support group, and grief support group. Support groups can be led by a number of mental health professionals. The goal of a support group is to create a setting where struggling individuals feel heard and understood. All support groups require strict confidentiality.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

An evidence based therapy used for emotional distress or other symptoms that were a result of traumatic experiences. It helps in alleviating stress, or symptoms by recalling such experiences in the presence of the therapist while adhering to a certain physical movement such as moving the eyes.

DBT Therapy

A derivative of CBT and was first developed for individuals with borderline personality disorder and chronic suicidal behavior but has now adapted to deal with complex mental health disorders. DBT includes skills training groups, individual sessions and phone coaching. The aim of DBT is to decrease life threatening behaviors, therapy interfering behaviors, and quality of life behaviors. It also focuses on the acquisition of skills including Mindfulness, Emotional Regulation, Stress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Skills
